Epilogue

After Tromsø, Forsström returned to Uppsala by way of Torneå, Österbotten, Vasa, Åbo and Åland to Uppsala which he reached in October 1800. The scientific results of his travels were not helped by him having lost his labouriously collected moths in the sea off Fugleøy, but Thunberg gave him a fine testimonial in December 1800.

Forström took holy orders in December 1802, and a year later he was climbing ashore in St Barthélemy, a Swedish free port in the West Indies, as its priest.
